It took me four years to finally get this shot. The Lilac Breasted Roller is a very colourful bird, common even in towns, and I had managed several very good shots of the bird sitting on branches but never in flight.
On my last trip to South Luangwa National Park, Zambia, I was finally lucky to get the shot I wanted, showing the colours of the bird's wings with a beautiful blue sky as a background.
