I was driving on the causeway at the back of Lake Nakuru lodge when I saw the resident herd of giraffes in the trees, moving towards the causeway. I stopped the car and turned off the engine to let them come closer. As it is often the case, when you stop, you start noticing other, usually smaller, animals. This grey headed kingfisher landed in a bush close to the car. When a giraffe walked behind the kingfisher, I seized the chance to take the picture. I deliberately chose a wide aperture in order to blur the giraffe in the background.
