I was excited when I spotted a big flock of about 100 white storks whilst on a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. These birds are European migrants and spend the European winter in Africa. I had seen them before in Zambia. The reason I like these birds is because you can find a lot of them in the Alsace region in France in the summer, close to where I grew up. It is amazing to think about how they can migrate over the Sahara desert like that and back, using the winds and their wings.
