I took this picture a few seconds after the first one. The crocodile and hippo mother had a quick stand off, both with their jaws wide open.
Then they had another quick fight before the crocodile disappeared.
To take these pictures, I had to act very quickly and recompose from shooting a static bird perched on a branch to shooting two huge animals fighting with each other. The autofocus from my Sigma lens was excellent and combined with the performance of the D700 Nikon camera, allowed me to take sharp shots of the scene unravelling in front of me.
