Great Spotted Woodpecker
My parents had told me that they sometimes saw woodpeckers coming in the garden. During Christmas holidays, as I was coming back home, I brought my telephoto lens in the hope of seeing one. I was rewarded one morning as it came on the birch tree in front of the kitchen window. I managed a few shots, making sure I was higher up than the bird in order to get the mountains as the background of the picture and not the horrible looking grey sky.
Nikon D700, Nikon 70-300mm lens at VR lens at 300mm. F5.6, 1/1250s, ISO 6400, handheld.
