I took this picture from one of my favourite places in Malawi: the top of Black Rock, a large inselberg, in Kasungu National Park.
Kasungu is a special place for me as it is where I did my first self drive safari, and where I ran the Mammal Count for 5 years for the Department of Parks in Malawi and the Wildlife Society.
Climbing Black Rock is easy but at the same time, you have to be very alert as the vegetation around the inselberg is very dense and I have seen leopard and lion footprints in the vicinity of the rock.
I took my Nikon D200 camera with my 300mm lens that I handheld.
The mountain in the distance is Kasungu Hill, the point you leave the main road to get to the Park. At the base of that hill is one of the palaces that belonged to the former dictator, Kamuzu Hastings Banda.
